The NDIS – which stands for the National Disability Insurance Scheme – provides financial support for people with a disability.
NDIA (National Disability Insurance Agency) is an independent statutory agency. Their role is to implement the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which will support a better life for hundreds of thousands of Australians with a significant and permanent disability and their families and carers.
The NDIS website has an eligibility checklist you can use to determine whether you’re eligible or not to access the NDIS. View the NDIS website’s checklist here.
Every person living with a disability has a unique set of needs. An NDIS plan outlines your specific goals and what support you may require achieving them. If you haven’t got an approved NDIS plan in place, learn how to get one started here.
A Local Area Coordinator is someone assigned to you to help you understand and use your plan. This includes connecting you with funded supports and showing you how to use the myplace portal.
If a Local Area Coordinator is not available in your area, or you need more help coordinating supports and services, the NDIA may fund a Support Coordinator in your NDIS funded plan.
They’ll help you use your plan to work towards your goals.
